Blank Screen 16 Years ago

Hi, I'm new to telnet, I was trying to telnet to a local PC (on my home network, practicing...) running vista (ver. home basic) and I got a blank screen, on the bottom it said connected, but it did not show anything even when i typed commands.
What am I doing wrong
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

Generally speaking, you don't telnet to your local PC. Unless of course you're running a telnet server on that machine. I rather doubt that Vista home basic runs a telnet server by default, so unless you've installed one yourself, it's not going to work.
What port did you telnet to that gave you the 'connected' message?
