I just upgraded to the latest version of Absolute Telnet, and am running into a problem. When I connect via ssh to box, I cannot get AT to give me a screen pop-up for the username and password. It is always giving me a command line username/password, and if I don't edit the connection properties and enter my password the connection fails. I believe what is happening is it's letting me enter my password but then trying to establish the ssh session before it even asks me for my password. I just upgraded to Windows7, so I don't know if it's an issue with the new Version of AT, or something to do with Win7, but I need AT to give me a screen pop for the username and password, instead of just asking for it on the command line.

I've used AT for years, but if I can't get this fixed, it could be a deal breaker for me. It's a royal pain to have to edit the connection properties each time because I use a Token for the password, so I would have to edit each connection every time I use it.

How do I get AT to give me the screen pop for username and password again. I've every radio button and check box on the ssh2-authentication tab/page.

At some point in the last few years, Absolute stopped using the popup for login authentication and started prompting on-screen. There were a number of reasons for this, but effectively it should be the same.

In Options->Properties->Connection->SSH2->Authentication you should check the box for 'use plain password to log in', but do *not* enter the password here. If you enter the password here, it will try to use the same password every time. If you leave this blank, you'll be prompted for the password at login time like you'd expect. Leave all other authentication methods unchecked.

Are you using an RSA SecurID token? If so, I have some more recommendations for you.
