That's the beauty of UTF-8! As long as the messages are tagged with the correct legacy character set, Pine will convert them internally to UTF-8 and Absolute can display them regardless of the language. Occasionally in Absolute, if you see characters show up as empty boxes, it means the font may not have the glyphs required to display the characters. Choosing a different font will help, but this is not often a problem as the default Courier and Courner New have pretty good coverage.
Here's a UTF-8 sample. Notice the empty boxes for Korean. It's hard to find a font that has Chinese, Japanese, AND Korean. Generally you can find one or the other, but not all three.
