Hi,
I'm trying the Absolute Telnet as a simple telnet client for is scripting possibilities but I'm unable get it work on one connection to an old terminal.
I got a scramble of character instead of text. The difference I can see it's the translation character set :
On PuttyTel it's DEC-MCS and work well.
On AbsoluteTelnet anything I choose, I can't get it work. It's totally unreadable.
I know that DEC MCS character set is not really new but any plan to add it or any known workaround ?
I can consider adding it but will need your help validating and testing.
It isn't exactly that common in practical use.
Brian
Hi Brian,
I can test if you add it.
Simply send me a test version by email.
Regards
Can you send me a logfile with some sample data and a screen snapshot of what it's supposed to look like?
Use File->Open LOG before opening a session and File->CLose LOG after you see the garbage on the screen. ZIP the logfile and email it to me at bpence@celestialsoftware.net
Also take a screen snapshot and include that in the email as well.
Then, I can take a look and see what's necessary.
Brian
Brian,
I sent you the information asked.
If you didn't receive it, simply reply back here and I'll resend it to you.
I'm interested in the DEC-MCS translation too.
Especially the German NCS.
This would be great
Patrick,
It's taken some time, but I think I've gotten DEC-MCS character code translation to work. You can now select it under Options->Properties->Appearance->Translation
Try this out:
