I'm interested in ability to keep users from modifying their sessions. Is it possible to remove the menus, or accomplish this by some other means?

thanks
Drew

There is an undocumented features that allows you to do this, but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head and I can't find it in the uhhh... documentation! 😉

It is not in the user interface, but rather a registry setting that you must make. It turns off various menu options in addition to toolbar buttons. The list of disabled features may not contain entirely everything you want to disable, but I'm open to suggestions for other things. If it doesn't fit in with the current registry hacks, I can create another that is more customized to what you want to do.

create a new string value under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Celestial Software\\AbsoluteTelnet

called 'reghack1' and set the value to yes

This disables a number of menu options, but is of course only limited by a user's ability and/or determination to edit the registry (which you probably have locked down already).

Drew,

I've got some additional registry switches that are ready for you to try. If you require additional ones, please let me know. The following strings can be entered in a similar way to the 'reghack1' already mentioned. However, they can be entered into either the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_CURRENT_USER branches of the registry to affect either the entire machine or specific user's rights. String values can be either 'yes', 'YES', 'true', or 'TRUE'.

The following registry switches have been added in AbsoluteTelnet 2.12 RC2

disable_save
disable_paste
disable_file_menu
disable_edit_menu
disable_options_menu
disable_transfer_menu
disable_help_menu
disable_all_menus
disable_wrap_button
disable_font_selection
disable_toolbar

You can download the latest here:

Drew,

Were you able to try the latest updates??? The current beta is still open to additional modifications if there's any further controls you might need.
