Automatic update check 20 Years, 9 Months ago

Is there any way to prevent Absolute Telnet from automatically checking for updates?
Every time I run the program, even though I only connect to my in-house network, it causes my modem to start dialing to the Internet. It's very inconvenient -- enough that I'm reluctant to continue using the program.

There's currently not a way to turn that off. If, however, it is allowed to complete, it won't check again for at least one week. I'm considering some alternatives for user control over this but have not come up with anything definite yet.
Suggestions?

I have a suggestion: Simply make it an option.
