TOPIC: RSA/DSA private key

RSA/DSA private key 14 Years, 4 Months ago
I'm setting up a new SSH2 connection (my first in 8.13) which will be key login only.
On the SSH2 tab I choose that option but i cant see anyway of entering the location of my private key.
If i click OK it attempts to make the connection but again it never asks for the location of my private key

Err !! Am i missing something obvious here ??

thanks

When the connection is made, you get a login dialog that allows you to choose the key.

I am now logged in(stupid host name error before) but at no point did it ask for my private key.

How did it find it ? or What did it use instead ?

thanks

dave

ps: This is using FIPS 140-2 Mode

If you have a smartcard inserted, it will use the key from there. If it is a file based key, you have to choose the location when you login. After the first time, it will remember the location of the key.

Just to make sure, try going to options->properties->Connection->SSH2->Authentication and disable the checkbox in front of 'use rsa/dsa key'. Now, disconnect and reconnect. You should see the login dialog along with the authentication choices, which should include the location of your key.

I did disable the checkbox and it came up with a dialog with the path to my private key allready filled in correctly. Although how it found it after a clean install (new install on new W7 installation) is a mystery

anyway , thanks
