Error code 10061 19 Years ago
I upgraded after the "upgrade notification" broke my spirit :)
The wizard uninstalled my old version, installed my new one, and my internet security software recognized the new program. I tried opening an existing SSH connection and received the following error:
Connect to x.x.x.x failed (Connect() failed: Error code 10061, description: No connection could be made because teh target machine actively refused it.)

The upgrade notification is not *supposed* to be so annoying. It's supposed to tell you ONCE and then keep quiet (until another new version comes along).

Unfortunately, both version 3.50 and 3.63 had bugs related to new version notification. I apologize if it 'broke your spirit'. In 3.50, the notification didn't work right and you were whisked to the web site every time you ran the program. In 3.63, the notification would be displayed, but it would be displayed *every* time you run the program, even if you hit the 'no thanks' button.

Version 3.80 should fix all of these problems.

As for your connection problems, there can only be a couple of solutions:

1. The telnet or ssh server is down and the machine is actually refusing the connection

2. Your firewall is interfering

3. The wrong IP address or port is specified in AbsoluteTelnet

Double-check that the server is up.

Try re-creating the .tnt file and see if you can get it to connect.

Try to connect without the firewall or from another machine

Are you trying to connect via telnet, ssh1, or ssh2?

Hey Brian - just giving you a hard time about the notification. Your application kicks ass.

Anyway. I tried connecting to 4 independent servers; they are all the saved .tnt files from previous installations. Each gives me the error. I know the IP's are right and that the daemons are up and running. Firewall is fine.

I tried creating a connection from scratch (File->New->Connection File). I put my IP in the SSH2 box and hit OK. The error message appears instantly.

I'll uninstall, re-download the app and re-install. Unless there are any other ideas.

Thanks for the quick support-

Were these telnet, ssh1, or ssh2?

...user error...

When I uninstalled and re-installed I came across my local software firewall, asking me to block/allow Internet access to the application.
I must have missed that when I upgraded, and inadvertently 'blocked' access.
